About Finca JEVANA

Finca JEVANA is a human-scale, soil-first, no-till permaculture farm focused on increasing the biological diversity of our living soil.

The history of the land we steward is one of exploitative industrial agriculture. It was first exploited for sugar cane (1920s), tabaco (1970s) and, in the later part of the century, cattle. As a result, the soil we inherited was eroded of topsoil, extremely compacted, and without significant biology. The erosion is so extreme that the top-most layer of earth appears as a combination of soil horizons B & C, with large marble shaped iron-manganese conglomerates scattered amongst the limited organic matter.

As farmers, we work to validate tropical no-till methods for soil health while partnering with fungal and microbial allies to restore soil structure and fertility. We have witnessed first-hand on our farm the restorative power of biology and hope to encourage other farmers to divest from the agro-industrial complex and choose living soils.

We are honored to serve our community through the validation of tropical no-till methods, mutual aid, and the sale of organic veggies.
